Oxfords have been in fashion for a few seasons now, and if you have stayed tuned with the different DIY blogs, pimping them with neon soles is a trend. I absolutely love the look, but I don’t know if I am ready to go all in to permanently change my favorite pair. So I am digging out my current love affair (colored duck tape) and making a reversible pair. Get your duck tape on and follow my lead.
colored duck tape, utility knife
Start on the inside of your shoe (for the least visible joint) and tape all the way around the sole. Make sure the edge of the tape is parallel with the edge of the sole. Then take a utility knife and follow the edge of the sole with, cutting of the excess tape.
I followed almost the same procedure to make my reversible neon heeled pumps. It's the same feeling, I love the trend and the look, but I'm not ready to part with a fav pair of pumps and make them neon forever. You can only use neon heeled shoes so many times before you over do it, and with this method you can switch up the color and remove it when you are sick of it!
Do you love it?
Gorgeous! Love them :)

Awesome DIY! Love the fact that as soon as all these neon hype fades, you'll be able to remove the tape and go back to its originality. Thanks for sharing the tip.

i never thought of colour duck tape! am itching to find one in my area to do this. superb idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks emilie :) Ever since i found colour ducktape i have been obsessed :)
DeleteLove that it's removeable since you know this trend will not last.
ReplyDeleteit's a pretty good idea! because you can always remove the neon tape. There is just one thing i am worried about: will the tape get off the shoe without leaving any residue and thus ruining the shoe?
ReplyDeleteHi,
DeleteI have tried it on several of my beloved shoes, both suede and leather, and the tape removes very easily with out residue on all of mine at least. I cant guarantee that nothing will happen, but as far as my experience goes, it perfection :)
love K

ReplyDeleteI love non-committal DIYs! It makes me feel better to know that, even if it looks terrible, or that I ruined something, its reversible. So, where could I do this on pumps that aren't platform? Or any ideas for other shoes altogether that i could try this on? And do you think it would damage patent leather? Thanks, I think I'm going to try this soon!
ReplyDeleteVery creative. I like the idea that you aren't stuck with it, but can just peel it off whenever you like. Great DIY project for the young at heart.
ReplyDeleteGreat !
